Synthesis of novel visible light driven MgO@GO nanocomposite photocatalyst for degradation of Rhodamine 6G

Meher-Un-Nisa Khilji et al.

Summary: A novel nanocomposite of magnesium oxide doped graphene oxide (MgO@GO) was synthesized and used as a visible-light driven photocatalyst for the degradation of Rhodamine 6G (Rh6G). The morphology, structure, functional groups, and chemical composition of the photocatalyst were characterized. By combining tungsten light (50 W), stirring, and aeration, a degradation efficiency of 98% for Rh6G (30 mL, 1 ppm) was achieved within 15 minutes.

High-efficiency removal of lead/cadmium from wastewater by MgO modified biochar derived from crofton weed

Song Cheng et al.

Summary: The MgO modified biochar derived from crofton weed (MBCW600) showed high adsorption capacities for Pb2+ and Cd2+ in wastewater, with Pb2+ being more easily captured than Cd2+ in a multimetal system. The study also highlighted the importance of Mg2+ in the adsorption process. Additionally, the exhausted MBCW600 could be effectively regenerated and showed potential for future applications in wastewater treatment containing heavy metals.

A flexible N-doped carbon-nanofiber film reinforced by halloysite nanotubes(HNTs) for adsorptive desulfurization

Xiao-Lu Sun et al.

Summary: This report introduces the facile synthesis of carbon-nanofiber films reinforced by halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) via electrospinning, with the HNTs enhancing the mechanical performance of the carbon-nanofiber films. The higher N doping content in the N-doped carbon-nanofiber films resulted in higher strength and toughness, while maintaining good adsorption capability for sulfur compounds in oil.

High-performance triboelectric nanogenerator based on MXene functionalized polyvinylidene fluoride composite nanofibers

Trilochan Bhatta et al.

Summary: In this study, electrospun MXene (Ti3C2Tx) functionalized Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) composite nanofiber is proposed as a promising negative triboelectric layer for boosting triboelectric energy harvesting performance. By blending Ti3C2Tx nanosheets into the PVDF matrix, the dielectric constant and surface charge density of nanofiber are significantly enhanced, leading to improved triboelectric performance. The fabricated Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) based on PVDF/MXene composite (PMC) nanofiber demonstrates higher power output and stability compared to pristine PVDF nanofiber, and can be used for energy harvesting and self-powered sensors.
