Catalytic intermediate pyrolysis of post-extraction rapeseed meal by reusing ZSM-5 and Zeolite Y catalysts

Wojciech Jerzak et al.

Summary: This study compares the effects of ZSM-5 and Zeolite Y catalysts on intermediate pyrolysis. Zeolite Y showed higher carbon deposition and hydrogen and nitrogen contents during the pyrolysis of rapeseed meal. The catalysts had different effects on the properties of the products, with Zeolite Y producing higher-quality pyro-gas but decreasing hydrogen and carbon oxide concentrations upon reusage.

ZSM-5 Catalysts for MTO: Effect and Optimization of the Tetrapropylammonium Hydroxide Concentration on Synthesis and Performance

Mohammed A. Sanhoob et al.

Summary: This study synthesized a series of ZSM-5 zeolites using the microwave-assisted crystallization method and analyzed their properties in detail. The results show that tetrapropyl ammonium hydroxide is the optimal organic structure-directing agent for achieving high crystallinity, suitable morphology, and ideal pore size. The catalyst with the highest crystallinity exhibited the best catalytic performance and stability in the methanol-to-olefin conversion reaction.

Synthesis of cyclic α-pinane carbonate - a potential monomer for bio-based polymers

Valentine C. Eze et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis and characterization of alpha-pinane carbonate from an alpha-pinene derivative. The potential application of alpha-pinane carbonate as a monomer for sustainable bio-based polymer is highlighted. The significance lies in the conversion of pinanediol into alpha-pinane carbonate and the potential utilization of a major waste product from pulp and paper industries.

The Studies on α-Pinene Oxidation over the TS-1. The Influence of the Temperature, Reaction Time, Titanium and Catalyst Content

Agnieszka Wroblewska et al.

Summary: The study investigated the oxidation of alpha-pinene over TS-1 catalysts with different Ti content, revealing that the catalyst with 5.42 wt% Ti yielded the best results in terms of conversion rate and selectivities for main products. Various products of practical importance in industries such as food, cosmetics, perfumery, and medicine were formed under optimized conditions. Kinetic studies were also conducted for the process.

Catalytic Epoxidation of 3-Carene and Limonene with Aqueous Hydrogen Peroxide, and Selective Synthesis of α-Pinene Epoxide from Turpentine

Vladislav V. Fomenko et al.

Summary: The epoxidation of turpentine, 3-carene, and limonene using aqueous hydrogen peroxide in a new catalytic system allows for chemical separation of turpentine components and production of valuable monoterpenes derivatives without isolating individual reagents. Specific methods have been developed for the production of alpha-pinene epoxide, 3-carene epoxide, limonene diepoxide, as well as two related compounds.

Studies of New Iridium Catalysts Supported on Modified Silicalite-1-Their Structure and Hydrogenating Properties

Michal Zielinski et al.

Summary: This study investigates the catalytic properties of iridium catalysts supported on modified silicalite-1. Post-synthesis modification of silicalite-1 with ammonium compounds was found to efficiently generate acidic sites and alter the porosity of the support. The catalytic activity of iridium supported on silicalite-1 treated with NH4OH was significantly higher than that of iridium supported on unmodified or NH4F-modified silicalite-1.

Development of rapid and selective epoxidation of α-pinene using single-step addition of H2O2 in an organic solvent-free process

Mohamad Faiz Mukhtar Gunam Resul et al.

Summary: This study presents a significant improvement in the oxidation process of alpha-pinene using environmentally friendly H2O2 with high atom economy and 100% selectivity to alpha-pinene oxide. The use of tungsten-based polyoxometalates as catalysts allowed for the epoxidation of alpha-pinene in the absence of solvents, achieving nearly 100% selectivity within a short reaction time.

Green Synthesis and Application of ZSM-5 Zeolite

O. Chen et al.

Summary: The ZSM-5 molecular sieve composite prepared by solid phase in-situ synthesis method showed a pure MFI-type zeolite material structure with high crystallinity. The synthesized ZSM-5 molecular sieve had more acid content and a wide-pore structure, with a larger BET specific surface area and micropore specific surface area. The FCC catalyst additive exhibited good selectivity for LPG, propylene, and butene, increasing propylene and butene yields while also showing better heavy oil cracking capability and coke selectivity.
