Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: A nanosecond pulsed spark discharge technique was developed for sustainable nitrogen fixation. Through experiments and modeling, it was found that chain reactions between O and N radicals and vibrationally excited N-2 and O-2 molecules are the key pathways for NOx formation. These findings provide new insights into sustainable and decentralized NOx production.

Hao Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the conversion of CO2 into O-2-free CO using plasma and biochar was investigated. The presence of both plasma and biochar significantly enhanced the CO2 conversion. The effects of biochar source, pyrolysis temperature, and gas-solid reaction patterns were evaluated. The study revealed that the plasmatron CO2 + C process achieved a high CO2 conversion rate.

Dry reforming of methane by microsecond pulsed dielectric barrier discharge plasma: Optimizing the reactor structures

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effects of reactor structures on the plasma-assisted dry reforming of CH4 process and finds that a multi-stage or foil external electrode and negative polar discharge can promote the conversions of reactants and the yields of syngas. The results show that lower power input and heat insulation measures can lead to higher conversions, yields, and energy conversion efficiencies. Additionally, packing materials into the reactor can further promote the conversion of CH4, but has limited effect on the conversion of CO2.

Enhanced hydrogen production using a tandem biomass pyrolysis and plasma reforming process

Weitao Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents a tandem process that combines cellulose pyrolysis and plasma-assisted reforming for H-2 production. The effects of different parameters on the reaction performance were investigated, and it was found that low temperatures are preferred for non-catalytic plasma reforming, whereas high temperatures are desired for achieving a high H-2 yield and selectivity in the plasma-catalytic reforming system. The use of a catalyst at 550 degrees C resulted in a significantly higher H-2 yield compared to using plasma alone or catalyst alone.

Charge transfer in plasma assisted dry reforming of methane using a nanosecond pulsed packed-bed reactor discharge

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of packing material on plasma characteristic, finding that the quantity of accumulated charges in the primary discharge was larger than the quantity of released charges in the secondary discharges in the Dielectric Barrier Discharge reactor, but they were almost equal in the packed-bed reactor. Once the gas gap was packed with pellets, the discharge behavior has been changed from the view of charge transfer process.
