Constructing Scalable Superhydrophobic Membranes for Ultrafast Water-Oil Separation

Xi Quan Cheng et al.

Summary: A simple method of coaxial electrospinning was proposed to manufacture superhydrophobic membranes for ultrafast separation of water-in-oil emulsions. By designing asymmetric composite membranes with selective layers, the mass transfer resistance was reduced, resulting in high separation efficiency and permeance. The manufactured membrane showed strong promise in separation of water-in-oil emulsions, with a large size, continuous production, and potential for further enlargement.

Fibrosis mechanism, crystallization behavior and mechanical properties of in-situ fibrillary PTFE reinforced PP composites

Aimin Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, in-situ PP/fibril-PTFE and PP/spherical-PTFE composites were prepared by one-step extrusion process. The fibrosis mechanism of PTFE was elucidated through various analysis methods, with shear rate identified as a key parameter affecting the morphology evolution of PTFE. SEM analysis showed the generation of reticular crystals in the presence of PTFE fibrils, and spherulites in the presence of PTFE particles.
