Ultrathin Cellulose Nanofiber Assisted Ambient-Pressure-Dried, Ultralight, Mechanically Robust, Multifunctional MXene Aerogels

Na Wu et al.

Summary: Utilizing cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) as an assistant, the ambient-pressure-dried (APD) preparation of MXene-based aerogels with ultralight but robust, highly conductive, and large-area properties is achievable. The strong interactions between CNF and MXene, as well as the biomimetic microstructure, contribute to the high mechanical strength and stability of the aerogels. Moreover, the abundant functional groups of CNFs enhance the chemical crosslinking and improve the hydrophobicity, water resistance, and oxidation stability of the MXene-based aerogels. The ultrathin, 1D nature of CNFs leads to minimal interlayered gaps and numerous heterogeneous interfaces in the MXenes, resulting in excellent conductivity and electromagnetic interference shielding performance of the aerogels.

Cancan Zhao et al.

Summary: In recent years, visible-to-near-infrared (NIR) light has been developed for melanoma therapy and tissue regeneration. Researchers have discovered that a hydrogel called HA@BCN, fabricated under blue light activation, can achieve gentle and powerful melanoma therapy and wound healing under NIR light irradiation. The hydrogel can be triggered by NIR light to achieve at least an 80% mortality rate in tumor cells within 10 minutes, and it can also accelerate wound healing.

Hemoperfusion: technical aspects and state of the art

Claudio Ronco et al.

Summary: Hemoperfusion, a technique that removes harmful substances from plasma by adsorption, has gained renewed interest due to advancements in technology that have improved its safety and biocompatibility. Early studies were hindered by bioincompatibility, but recent developments have addressed these limitations. Hemoperfusion has shown positive effects in chronic dialysis, chronic liver disease, and drug overdose. However, the role of non-selective hemoperfusion in sepsis or inflammation still requires further investigation.
