Aging transition under discrete time-dependent coupling: Restoring rhythmicity from aging

K. Sathiyadevi et al.

Summary: We investigated the aging transition in a globally coupled network of Stuart-Landau oscillators under discrete time-dependent coupling. Our findings reveal that by adjusting the time period and duty cycle of the ON-OFF intervals, the aging region can significantly shrink, leading to the restoration of oscillatory dynamics. The results also indicate that the type of coupling and pulse interval play crucial roles in controlling the aging dynamics, providing a noninvasive approach to restore oscillatory dynamics from an aging state in a coupled oscillator network.

Multistable vibration energy harvesters: Principle, progress, and perspectives

Shengxi Zhou et al.

Summary: Vibration energy harvesting is a new method for supplying sustainable energy to low powered sensor networks and electronic devices. Multiple vibration energy harvesters using different energy conversion mechanisms have been designed and tested. The challenge lies in the response to input excitation characteristics, which can be addressed through multistable characteristics commonly found in mathematical models and physical devices. The focus on multistable vibration energy harvesters is mainly due to their nonlinear dynamic characteristics that improve the efficiency of vibration energy harvesting.

Effect of propagation noise on the network dynamics of a flux coupled conductance-based neuron model

Sathiyadevi Kanagaraj et al.

Summary: In this paper, the dynamical behavior of a flux coupled conductance-based neuron under external periodic stimulus is investigated. The transitions between periodic and chaotic attractors, as well as the antimonotonicity phenomenon, are examined through bifurcation analysis and Lyapunov exponents. The collective dynamical behaviors of the neuron network under the influence of propagation noise are also explored, revealing transitions from desynchronized to synchronized states in the presence of noise, and the potential aid of noise in synchronization even at weak coupling strength.

Theoretical and experimental studies on bistable vibration energy harvester with levitation magnet couple

Wangzheng Deng et al.

Summary: This study introduces a levitation magnet couple to the bi-stable energy harvester to improve its response and output. Experimental results show that the levitation magnet couple extends the working frequency bandwidth and enables larger amplitude and inter-well jump under weak excitation. This research provides important guidance for improving the performance of bistable energy harvesters.

Electromagnetic Vibrational Energy Harvesters: A Review

Andrew Muscat et al.

Summary: As industries require real-time monitoring and interconnected systems, the demand for wireless sensors is growing. Vibrational energy harvesters are a potential solution to power these sensors as vibrations are commonly present in monitoring areas. Among various types of vibrational harvesters, electromagnetic harvesters stand out due to their ability to capture kinetic energy in low-frequency ranges. Extensive research has been conducted to enhance the efficiency and compactness of electromagnetic harvesters, making them more applicable in real-world applications with ambient vibrations.

Additional complex conjugate feedback-induced explosive death and multistabilities

K. Sathiyadevi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of additional complex conjugate feedback on globally coupled Stuart-Landau oscillators, revealing phenomena such as symmetry breaking clusters, out-of-phase clusters, explosive amplitude death, and disparate multistable states. By characterizing the first-order transition and hysteresis nature through the amplitude order parameter, mapping global dynamical transitions in parametric spaces, analyzing bifurcation scenarios of the reduced model, and exploring basin stability, the research sheds light on emergent dynamics in the presence of additional feedback.

Blinking coupling enhances network synchronization

Fatemeh Parastesh et al.

Summary: This paper studies the synchronization of a network with linear diffusive coupling that blinks between the variables periodically. The stability of the synchronous solution is shown to depend only on the averaged coupling and not on the instantaneous coupling. The effect of the blinking period on network synchronization is examined using the Hindmarsh-Rose model. The results demonstrate that decreasing the blinking period reduces the required coupling strength for synchrony and leads to enhanced synchronization compared to single-variable coupling.

Enhanced synchronization due to intermittent noise

Emilda Shajan et al.

Summary: By controlling the injection of noise in a restricted state space, rather than the entire state space, synchronization can be achieved with enhanced stability and maintained over a wider range of noise intensities. Various numerical simulations support these findings in different chaotic systems and models.
