Wet-milling synthesis of immobilized Pt/Ir nanoclusters as promising heterogeneous catalysts

Peng Du et al.

Summary: The study introduces an efficient synthetic route to obtain ultrafine Pt and Ir nanoclusters immobilized on diverse substrates by wet chemical milling, utilizing the strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) and mechanochemical reaction. The scaling-up effect of the approach is demonstrated through large-scale ball-milling production of Pt nanoclusters immobilized on TiO2 substrate.

Selective glycerol oxidation to glyceric acid under mild conditions using Pt/CeO2-ZrO2-Fe2O3/SBA-16 catalysts

Yeon-Bin Choi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the effective production of glyceric acid from glycerol under mild conditions using a Pt/CeO2-ZrO2-Fe2O3/SBA-16 catalyst in an open-air system without base or oxygen gas flow. The catalyst's oxygen release and storage abilities, as well as its acidity, play a crucial role in enhancing the glyceraldehyde yield. Increasing the loading amount of CeO2-ZrO2-Fe2O3 improves the oxygen release and storage abilities while reducing the catalyst acidity.

Pd supported on defective TiO2 polymorphic mixtures: Effect of metal-support interactions upon glycerol selective oxidation

Matias Gaston Rinaudo et al.

Summary: Palladium catalysts supported on defective mixes of anatase and rutile phases of titanium dioxide show excellent performance in the selective oxidation of glycerol. The physicochemical features of the support material play a crucial role in determining the catalytic activity, including the particle size, surface oxidation state, reducibility, oxygen mobility, and acid-base properties. This research is important for the rational design of heterogeneous catalysts.

In-situ Joule-heating drives rapid and on-demand catalytic VOCs removal with ultralow energy consumption

Peng Du et al.

Summary: The running of environmental purification usually consumes a large amount of energy. This study develops a rapid in-situ Joule-heating configuration to drive the catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with ultra-low energy consumption. The system demonstrates high conversion efficiency, high universality, and real-time responsiveness.

Reaction pathway investigation using in situ Fourier transform infrared technique over Pt/CuO and Pt/TiO2 for selective glycerol oxidation

Guandong Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the supports themselves could enhance catalyst activity and affect product selectivity. Through experiments on glycerol oxidation, it was observed that doping Pt significantly increased the activity of Pt/CuO and Pt/TiO2 catalysts, with different oxidation selectivity between them. Additionally, in situ FTIR spectra confirmed the specific selectivity of the catalysts.

Methane oxidation activity and nanoscale characterization of Pd/CeO2 catalysts prepared by dry milling Pd acetate and ceria

Maila Danielis et al.

Summary: The milling of Palladium acetate and CeO2 under dry conditions results in robust and environmentally friendly catalysts with excellent methane oxidation activity. The characterization techniques used in this study identified the presence of Pd-0/Pd2+ species with different degrees of interaction with ceria (Ce3+/Ce4+), which are believed to be responsible for the enhanced catalytic activity. This study provides insight into the mechanistic understanding of the catalytic performance of Pd/CeO2 catalysts prepared by dry milling.
