Influence of curing temperature on the hydration and strength development of Class G Portland cement

Xueyu Pang et al.

Summary: The experimental program investigated the hydration and strength development of Class G oil well cement under various curing temperatures. Results showed linear relationships between heat of hydration, non-evaporable water content, and degree of hydration, largely independent of curing temperature. Curing temperature influences hydration and strength development rates, which can be modeled using an equivalent age method.

An approach to effectively improve the interfacial bonding of paste-limestone by incorporating different nanomaterials

Tao Meng et al.

Summary: The modification effect of nanomaterials on the interfacial transition zone (ITZ) was investigated in this study, by determining the bonding strength, nanoindentation value, layered mineral composition, and microstructure of the interface. The results showed that nanomaterials significantly improved the bonding strength of concrete specimens by regulating the phase and deagglomeration of hydration products. However, different nanomaterials had different modification effects, with nano silica being the most effective.

Effect of Nano-Si3N4 on the Mechanical Properties of Cement-Based Materials

Jianping Zhu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of incorporating nano-Si3N4 (NSN) into cement on improving its compressive strength and wear resistance. It is found that NSN addition significantly enhances both properties by optimizing pore structure, improving performance of the interface transition zone (ITZ), and increasing the content of HD C-S-H gel. The mechanism of action is dominated by surface effect, filling effect, and larger surface energy of NSN, leading to improved mechanical properties of cement-based materials.
