Controlled Synthesis of Dibenzenetriol and Diquinone from 1,2,4-Benzenetriol by Catalytic Aerobic Oxidation

Yao Zhong et al.

Summary: In this study, transition metal oxides with different oxygen activation abilities and basicity were prepared to catalyze the synthesis of diphenol and diquinone. The results showed that CeO2 with moderate oxygen activation ability and basicity achieved a high yield of diphenol, while MoO3/CeO2 with strong oxygen activation ability and basicity effectively synthesized diquinone. These metal oxides also exhibited stable recycling performance.

Extraction of cellulose from corn stover using designed ionic liquids with improved reusing capabilities

Katarzyna Glinska et al.

Summary: In recent years, the use of ionic liquids for dissolving lignocellulosic biomass, particularly corn stover, has gained attention. Five designed ILs were able to dissolve cellulose in corn stover under mild conditions, with one IL showing the highest dissolution efficiency. Imidazolium ILs were found to be more effective in ash removal from corn stover compared to tetra-alkyl-phosphonium ILs.
