Sodium alginate coupled with organosilane quaternary ammonium salt for the antibacterial application

Summary: In this study, an antibacterial sodium alginate derivative was successfully developed through covalent coupling of organosilane quaternary ammonium salt with sodium alginate. The material exhibited high antibacterial efficiency against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, reaching up to 99.6% and 99.3%, respectively. Additionally, the material demonstrated good biocompatibility and potential application in the fabrication of sodium alginate beads.

Summary: In this study, multifunctional cotton fabrics with superhydrophobicity, photocatalysis, antifouling properties, oil/water separation, and UV protection were successfully prepared. The cotton fabrics were coated with micro/nano hierarchical ZnO/HNTs hybrid particles and PDMS, which provided excellent superhydrophobicity, photocatalytic activity, self-cleaning properties, and UV protection. The coated cotton fabrics also demonstrated good oil/water separation capabilities. Moreover, the superhydrophobicity of the fabrics was retained even after prolonged use and exposure.

Biomass-based coating from chitosan for cotton fabric with excellent flame retardancy and improved durability

In situ growth of MnO2 on pDA-templated cotton fabric for degradation of formaldehyde

Summary: This study developed a method to degrade formaldehyde in interior decoration by in situ growing manganese dioxide nanoparticles (MnO2 NPs) on cotton fabrics using polydopamine as a template. The results showed that the developed cotton/pDA/MnO2 fabrics exhibited good stability and could remove 100% of formaldehyde within 20 minutes after three cycles. The development of MnO2 NPs coated fabrics provides a new strategy for the degradation of formaldehyde in interior decoration.

A degradable membrane based on lignin-containing cellulose for high-energy lithium-ion batteries

Summary: In this study, a porous membrane based on lignin-containing cellulose nanofibers (LCNFs) was designed to overcome the drawbacks of traditional polyolefin separator, such as non-degradation and poor wettability with the electrolyte. The prepared membrane exhibited high electrolyte uptake and ionic conductivity, and showed promising application potential in high-energy LIBs. Moreover, the low cost and biodegradability of the LCNF membrane made from unbleached pulp can significantly reduce environmental pollution of LIBs. This research provides an efficient and low-cost method to fabricate a membrane with good biodegradability and high electrochemical performance for LIBs.
