Interplay between an ATP-binding cassette F protein and the ribosome from Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Zhicheng Cui et al.

Summary: The authors present structures of the MtbEttA protein bound to or free of the ribosome from Mycobacterium tuberculosis under different nucleotide states, which provide insights into the mechanism of translational regulation by EttA-like proteins.

Pharmacodynamic Correlates of Linezolid Activity and Toxicity in Murine Models of Tuberculosis

Kristina M. Bigelow et al.

Summary: This study investigated the pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic relationships of linezolid in the treatment of tuberculosis, showing that time above minimum inhibitory concentration (T->MIC) was most correlated with efficacy, but area under the concentration-time curve over MIC (AUC/MIC) was equally predictive in growth-constrained conditions. Additionally, red blood cell counts were strongly correlated with LW minimum concentration (C-min).

Structure of Erm-modified 70S ribosome reveals the mechanism of macrolide resistance

Maxim S. Svetlov et al.

Summary: Structural analysis reveals the resistance mechanism of macrolide antibiotics, mainly through A2058 dimethylation. The study found that the desosamine moiety plays a crucial role in drug binding, providing a foundation for the rational design of macrolides to overcome Erm-mediated resistance.
