Enhanced Catalytic Performance of N-Doped Carbon Sphere-Supported Pd Nanoparticles by Secondary Nitrogen Source Regulation for Formic Acid Dehydrogenation

Min Deng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the catalytic performance of Pd on a series of N-doped carbon materials. The results demonstrate that the catalytic performance of Pd can be further improved by adjusting the source and content of nitrogen. Theoretical calculations reveal the favorable reaction pathways of formic acid dehydrogenation facilitated by nitrogen atoms.

Formic acid dehydrogenation attained by Pd nanoparticles-based catalysts supported on MWCNT-C3N4 composites

Miriam Navlani-Garcia et al.

Summary: This study developed Pd nanoparticles-based catalysts supported on composites formed by MWCNTs and g-C3N4 for the dehydrogenation of formic acid in the liquid phase. The composition of the support was found to affect the performance of the catalyst, with the catalyst containing 63 wt. % of C3N4 exhibiting the best activity.

Pt doping and strong metal-support interaction as a strategy for NiMo-based electrocatalysts to boost the hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline solution

Jiao Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel strategy combining Pt doping and a strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) was developed to design electrocatalysts with low overpotential and high turnover frequency in the alkaline electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The catalyst also exhibited excellent stability, maintaining its catalytic activity for 200 hours. In situ experiments and theoretical calculations provided insights into the catalytic mechanism of the catalyst.

Cu-Ag Bimetallic Core-shell Nanoparticles in Pores of a Membrane Microreactor for Enhanced Synergistic Catalysis

Yu Chen et al.

Summary: Through the preparation of Cu-Ag core-shell nanoparticles immobilized in membrane pores, the utilization of Ag atoms is improved, promoting electron transfer between bimetallic components to form high electron density active sites and active hydrogen with strong reducing properties on the Ag surface. The dispersed membrane pores prevent nanoparticle aggregation and enhance contact between reaction fluid and catalyst, leading to enhanced mass transfer. In the hydrogenation catalysis process, plug-flow mode achieves enhanced mass transfer.

Black phosphorus hybridizing produces electron-deficient active sites on palladium nanoparticles for catalysis

Zuoliang He et al.

Summary: The electronic structure of supported metal catalysts plays a crucial role in affecting molecule adsorption energy and reaction energy barriers, therefore influencing the overall catalytic activity. By preparing palladium nanoparticles supported on few-layer black phosphorus as a catalyst, the electron-deficient structure of palladium nanoparticles induced by black phosphorus modification was demonstrated, leading to enhanced catalytic activity. Density functional theory calculations revealed that the high activity of the catalyst is correlated with the electron-deficient Pd atoms, which lower reactant adsorption energy and promote product desorption.

Cold plasma for preparation of Pd/C catalysts toward formic acid dehydrogenation: Insight into plasma working gas

Jingsen Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the influence of different cold plasma working gases on the performance of Pd/C catalysts was investigated. It was found that H2 plasma had the highest catalytic activity, followed by Ar plasma, while O2 and air plasma exhibited poor catalytic activity due to severe ablation of the carbon support and agglomeration of Pd nanoparticles. The discharge parameters indicated that H2 plasma facilitated the migration of Pd active species to the outer surface of the support, resulting in the highest catalytic activity of Pd/C-H2P catalyst.
