Added Prognostic Value of Plaque Burden to Computed Tomography Angiography and Myocardial Perfusion Imaging in Patients with Diabetes

Talal Alnabelsi et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the added prognostic value of plaque burden to cardiac computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) anatomic assessment and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) physiologic assessment in patients with diabetes undergoing both tests. The results suggest that in high-risk patients with diabetes and suspected coronary disease, plaque burden assessed by SIS has incremental prognostic value over ischemia by SPECT or stenosis by CCTA in predicting incident cardiovascular outcomes.

Summary: In this study evaluating patients with stable CAD, a lower FFRCT value was associated with a higher risk of adverse outcomes. Negative FFRCT results were correlated with lower event rates within 12 months and a decreased risk compared to positive results.

Relation between myocardial blood flow and cardiac events in diabetic patients with suspected coronary artery disease and normal myocardial perfusion imaging

Roberta Assante et al.

Summary: The study found that diabetic patients with reduced MFR had higher annualized event rate and lower event-free survival compared to those with preserved MFR and nondiabetic patients. Age, BMI, and reduced MFR were identified as independent predictors of events in diabetic patients. Diabetic patients with reduced MFR had lower event-free survival compared to both diabetic patients with normal MFR and nondiabetic patients with reduced MFR.

Prognostic value of myocardial perfusion scintigraphy in asymptomatic patients with diabetes mellitus at high cardiovascular risk: 5-year follow-up of the prospective multicenter BARDOT trial

Federico Caobelli et al.

Summary: The study found that asymptomatic diabetic patients with abnormal myocardial perfusion scintigraphy (MPS) have a higher risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) over a 5-year follow-up period. MPS may have prognostic value for asymptomatic diabetic patients at high cardiovascular risk.
