Hierarchical graphene@MXene composite foam modified with flower-shaped FeS for efficient and broadband electromagnetic absorption

Summary: In this study, an ultralight magnetic composite foam with hierarchical impedance structure was developed by electrostatic self-assembly of MXene on graphene skeletons and subsequent hydrothermal anchoring of FeS clusters. The composite foam exhibited high microwave absorption performance, with a minimum reflection loss of -47.17 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth of 6.15 GHz at a thickness of 4.78 mm. The microwave absorption performance of the foam could be further optimized by controlling the loading of MXene and applying low-temperature thermal treatment.

Summary: Exploring advanced electromagnetic wave absorbers is a feasible way to solve electromagnetic pollution. In this study, gamma-GY is synthesized and RGO/GY heterostructures are prepared. The influences of calcination temperature and gamma-GY content on the absorption performance are investigated. The results show that the RGO/GY composite has excellent absorption performance in both GHz and THz ranges, and also has anticorrosive properties.

This work offers a prospective strategy for constructing high-performance EMI shielding materials and presents broad application prospects.

Interfacial π-π Interactions Induced Ultralight, 300 °C-Stable, Wideband Graphene/Polyaramid Foam for Electromagnetic Wave Absorption in Both Gigahertz and Terahertz Bands

Summary: In this study, a high-performance electromagnetic wave-absorbing (EMA) material was developed for use in high-temperature environments. The ultralight graphene/polyaramid composite foam demonstrated wideband electromagnetic wave absorption capabilities in both gigahertz and terahertz bands, with an increased service temperature of 300 degrees C. Strong interfacial pi-pi interactions between graphene and polyaramids were found to enhance the foam's EMA performance, while also promoting PA to act as an antioxidation barrier layer for graphene at high temperatures. Furthermore, the composite foam showed excellent compressive, thermal insulating, and flame-retardant properties, making it a promising candidate for next-generation EMA materials in harsh environments.

Intelligent Off/On Switchable Microwave Absorption Performance of Reduced Graphene Oxide/VO2 Composite Aerogel

Summary: Intelligent microwave absorption materials with dynamically adjustable microwave absorption performance have great significance in future civil and military applications. A new type of reduced graphene oxide/VO2 composite aerogels has been developed, which exhibits switchable microwave absorption performance based on the phase change behavior of VO2. The electrical conductivity and permittivity of the composite material change significantly with temperature, resulting in off/on switchable microwave absorption performance. The composite material can switch between two modes, on to off and off to on, as temperature increases, and it demonstrates good cycling stability. Moreover, the maximum changes in effective absorption bands and RL values during the switch process exceed most current reports.

The enhanced microwave absorption is attributed to high ohmic loss, multiple polarization, and eddy current loss induced by a 3D macroscopic conductive network. The GA-CNT-CoNi aerogel is considered a promising candidate for microwave absorption due to its characteristics of ultra-low filler content, strong absorption, ultra-wideband, small thickness, and lightweight.

Bubble-templated rGO-graphene nanoplatelet foams encapsulated in silicon rubber for electromagnetic interference shielding and high thermal conductivity

Additionally, with a low filler loading content of only 18.1 wt%, the density of the composite is just 1.1 g/cm(3).
