Structure and Pore Size Distribution in Nanoporous Carbon

Yanzhou Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the structural and mechanical properties of nanoporous carbon materials using extensive atomistic machine learning driven molecular dynamics simulations. By retraining a Gaussian approximation potential (GAP) for carbon, we improved the accuracy of energy and force predictions and achieved notable speedup. Our results showed that the atomistic structure and pore-size distribution of computational nanoporous carbon samples are in good agreement with experimental data. The narrow pore-size distributions observed were dictated by the mass density of the materials. These findings provide valuable insights for the computational characterization and future experimental studies of nanoporous carbon-based materials.
