Metal-organic framework-derived carbon-based composites for electromagnetic wave absorption: Dimension design and morphology regulation

Summary: In this article, recent advances in using dimension and morphology modulation to adjust the microwave attenuation capacities for MOF-derived carbon composites are comprehensively reviewed. The fundamental design rules and unique advantages for various dimensions of MAMs are discussed, providing general concepts and insight on how to efficiently tune the morphologies. The fundamental dimension-morphology-function relationship is elucidated, and the challenges and perspectives of dimension design and morphology control over MOF-derived MAMs are presented.

The minimum reflection loss reaches -46.7 dB with 3.3 mm thickness, and the effective bandwidth (<-10 dB) achieves 10.8 GHz at 3.1 mm.

Constructing two-dimensional lamellar monometallic carbon nanocomposites by sodium chloride hard template for lightweight microwave scattering and absorption

The nanocomposites also demonstrate excellent electromagnetic wave scattering and absorption, with NFC having a small RCS value of only -8.098 dBm(2) under vertical incidence.

Anionic MOF derived Bimetallic NixCoy@Nano-porous carbon composites toward strong and efficient electromagnetic wave absorption

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) derived metallic nanoparticles embedded nano-porous carbon (NPC) composites have shown potential as microwave absorbing materials. In this study, an anionic NixCoy-MOF with N-rich ligands and hierarchical porous structures was used as a precursor for microwave absorption. The resulting NixCoy@NPC composites exhibited enhanced microwave attenuation capability through enhanced dipole/interfacial relaxation and synergistic effects of magnetic loss and conduction loss. The electromagnetic parameters could be modulated by tuning the Co/Ni amount in the precursors, leading to optimal electromagnetic wave absorption.

BCN nanosheets derived from coconut shells with outstanding microwave absorption and thermal conductive properties
