Summary: The knowledge of TasP (Treatment as Prevention) is high in high-income countries but low in Africa, with gaps in understanding of undetectable virus transmission. Interventions providing information on TasP show beneficial impacts on knowledge, stigma, HIV testing, and viral suppression.

Adapting to, integrating and self-managing HIV as a chronic illness: a scoping review protocol

Neo Phyllis Sematlane et al.

Summary: The concept of adaptation is crucial in understanding the trajectory and outcomes of living with HIV as a chronic illness. This study describes a protocol for a scoping review on adaptation to living with HIV, focusing on integrating HIV into identity and self-management. The evaluation of existing theories, models, and frameworks for relevance and usefulness in HIV care and management will be conducted.

Defining the optimal cut-point of self-reported ART adherence to achieve viral suppression in the era of contemporary HIV therapy: a cross-sectional study

Emma O'Halloran Leach et al.

Summary: In this study, a single question on medication adherence was found to be as effective as a 3-item questionnaire in predicting HIV viral suppression, but neither had good discriminatory ability. A cut-point close to 90% adherence maximized sensitivity and specificity, although viral suppression was very similar for nearly all measures above 80%.

Efficacy, Use, and Usability of the VIP-HANA App for Symptom Self-management in PLWH with HANA Conditions

Rebecca Schnall et al.

Summary: The study found no significant improvement in symptom burden for people living with HIV (PLWH) with HIV-associated non-AIDS conditions when using the VIP-HANA application. However, it did show that PLWH are interested in monitoring their symptoms, which could have implications for the wider use of digital health for patient surveillance.
