Genetic differentiation in functional traits among wild cherry (Prunus avium L.) half-sib lines

Srdan Stojnic et al.

Summary: Understanding intra-specific variation in leaf functional traits is essential for evaluating species adaptive capacity to climate change and for developing breeding and conservation strategies. A study on wild cherry half-sib lines revealed significant differences in various functional traits among the lines. Statistical and multivariate analyses indicated strong correlations between traits such as gas exchange in plants, leaf size, and antioxidant capacity, highlighting the potential of the species to adapt to changing climates.
