High DKK3 expression related to immunosuppression was associated with poor prognosis in glioblastoma: machine learning approach

Myung-Hoon Han et al.

Summary: This study found that high expression of DKK3 in patients with GBM is associated with increased immunosuppressive response and decreased antitumoral immunity. High DKK3 expression is also correlated with poor prognosis and disease progression in GBM patients. The identification of navitoclax as an agent with potent activity against GBM cell lines with high DKK3 expression suggests that DKK3 could be a therapeutic target in GBM.

Follistatin-like 1 (FSTL1) interacts with Wnt ligands and Frizzled receptors to enhance Wnt/β-catenin signaling in obstructed kidneys in vivo

Yu Zhang et al.

Summary: The study reveals that FSTL1 plays a promoting role in renal fibrosis by interacting with Wnt ligands and FZD receptors to activate the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. This finding is of great importance for a deeper understanding of the mechanism underlying kidney diseases.

Identification of genes from ten oncogenic pathways associated with mortality and disease progression in glioblastoma

Myung-Hoon Han et al.

Summary: This study investigated the expression of genes in 10 canonical oncogenic signaling pathways and their relationship to mortality and disease progression in GBM patients. It identified 12 independent genes significantly associated with poor prognosis in GBM and suggested possible mechanisms affecting GBM prognosis.

Prediction and analysis of hub genes between glioblastoma and low-grade glioma using bioinformatics analysis

Baowei Xu

Summary: This study identified 6 hub genes as potential new biomarkers for diagnosis and treatment strategies for different grades of gliomas through analyzing differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and low-grade gliomas (LGG). These hub genes were validated through different databases, indicating their importance in glioma patients.

Role of glioblastoma stem cells in cancer therapeutic resistance: a perspective on antineoplastic agents from natural sources and chemical derivatives

Ana Laura V. Alves et al.

Summary: Glioblastoma (GBM) is the highest-grade form of glioma, characterized by rapid cellular growth and high invasiveness. Understanding cancer stem cells (CSCs) has provided new insights into GBM resistance and management. With knowledge of GSCs and therapies based on antineoplastic agents, a promising future in GBM treatment may be on the horizon.
