Isolation and Characterization of Trichoderma spp. for Antagonistic Activity against Avocado (Persea americana Mill) Fruit Pathogens

Maria Estela Lopez-Lopez et al.

Summary: This research aimed to isolate and identify native strains of Trichoderma spp. with potential activity against avocado pathogens. The isolated Trichoderma spp. strains from avocado orchards in Mexico showed strong antagonistic capacity and were identified as Trichoderma harzianum. In vivo evaluations demonstrated that the TSMICH7 strain had high effectiveness against the four tested phytopathogens, with increased activity of glucanases and chitinases.

Identification and characterization of a stem canker and twig dieback disease of pear caused by Neofusicoccum parvum in Chinese mainland

Feng He et al.

Summary: Pear stem canker and twig dieback disease caused by Neofusicoccum parvum pose a significant threat to pear production in China. This study identified the causal agent of the disease and characterized different isolates of N. parvum. The optimal temperature for infection and the virulence of selected isolates were investigated, and the efficacy of fungicides for disease management was evaluated. These findings provide valuable insights for the future control of this disease.
