Long-term Chikungunya sequelae and quality of life 2.5 years post-acute disease in a prospective cohort in Curacao

Churnalisa Doran et al.

Summary: This study found that patients with long-term chikungunya disease are still affected 2.5 years after disease onset. Patients reported mainly recurrent rheumatic and non-rheumatic/psychological symptoms, including fatigue, insomnia, sombreness, and loss of vitality, with significantly higher symptom recurrence and pain intensity reported by highly affected patients. In addition, QoL assessment indicates that the disease burden impaired the physiological well-being of these patients. The CLTCS-score can be used to easily identify highly affected patients.

A fatal case report of antibody-dependent enhancement of dengue virus type 1 following remote Zika virus infection

Ashley N. Bonheur et al.

Summary: This study reports a case of rapidly progressive and fatal travel-associated DENV infection in the United States, in which prior exposure to ZIKV likely contributed to the development of ADE phenomenon. The association between prior ZIKV immunity and subsequent new dengue infection is a concerning phenomenon, providing an important contribution to the knowledge on immunity to flaviviruses.

Data quality and arbovirus infection associated factors in pregnant and non-pregnant women of childbearing age in Brazil: A surveillance database analysis

Ariadne Barbosa do Nascimento Einloft et al.

Summary: The study found that the data completeness of dengue case notifications in women of childbearing age and pregnant women is inadequate, indicating a significant loss of information. Dengue infection in both groups was positively associated with Social Determinants of Health, with pregnant women experiencing more severe effects.
