Time-course RNA-seq analysis provides an improved understanding of genetic regulation in response to cold stress from white clover (Trifolium repens L.)

Xueqi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the molecular mechanisms of white clover in response to cold stress using RNA-seq analysis and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA). The results revealed that genes associated with oxidoreductase activity and transcription regulator activity play important roles in the response of white clover to cold stress. Additionally, gene modules related to protein kinase activity, DNA-binding transcription factor activity, and oxidoreductase activity are also involved in the response of white clover to cold stress. Several AP2/ERF transcription factor genes and CDPK genes were identified as pivotal genes in the response of white clover to cold stress.

Integration of full-length transcriptomics and targeted metabolomics to identify benzylisoquinoline alkaloid biosynthetic genes in Corydalis yanhusuo

Dingqiao Xu et al.

Summary: This study identified candidate genes involved in the biosynthesis of benzylisoquinoline alkaloids (BIAs) in Corydalis yanhusuo through full-length transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses. A complete BIA biosynthesis pathway was constructed based on the findings, and phylogenetic analysis revealed enzymes with columbamine-O-methyltransferase activity. The results provide a foundation for further molecular cloning of enzymes and activity validation studies.
