The reversion of DNA methylation-induced miRNA silence via biomimetic nanoparticles-mediated gene delivery for efficient lung adenocarcinoma therapy

Lu Liang et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed novel biomimetic nanoparticles activated by matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) to effectively deliver miRNA to lung cancer cells. These nanoparticles, camouflaged with red blood cell (RBC) membranes, have the advantages of extended circulation time, lower toxicity, better biocompatibility, and immune escape. In vitro and in vivo experiments have demonstrated the ability of these nanoparticles to induce apoptosis in lung cancer cells and inhibit the development and progression of lung adenocarcinoma by targeting ADAM9.

Varied functions of immune checkpoints during cancer metastasis

Ali Safarzadeh et al.

Summary: Immune checkpoints, including both inhibitory and costimulatory molecules, play crucial roles in regulating the immune system and hindering the development of malignancies. Inhibitory immune checkpoints are associated with increased metastatic tumors, while activating costimulatory immune checkpoints can restrain tumor metastasis. The targeting of these immune checkpoints presents novel therapeutic opportunities for cancer treatment in the future.

The Challenges of Tumor Mutational Burden as an Immunotherapy Biomarker

Denis L. Jardim et al.

Summary: Tumor mutational burden (TMB) reflects cancer mutation quantity and correlates with better outcomes of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). However, TMB as a biomarker is imperfect and a composite predictor including critical variables is needed.

Single-cell dissection of cellular components and interactions shaping the tumor immune phenotypes in ovarian cancer

Milena Hornburg et al.

Summary: This study provides a detailed analysis of distinct T cell infiltration patterns in ovarian tumors, revealing the impact on responses to cancer immunotherapies and the underlying key determinants and biology of tumor immune phenotypes. The research highlights potential molecular mechanisms shaping these phenotypes and may inform therapeutic strategies for enhancing clinical benefit from cancer immunotherapies.

Pancancer survival analysis of cancer hallmark genes

Adam Nagy et al.

Summary: This study aimed to estimate the prognostic effect of cancer hallmark genes in multiple distinct cancer types. The results showed significant heterogeneity and tissue specificity in the correlation between these genes and survival, providing valuable information for future targeted therapy development in solid tumors.

Three-Dimensional Genome Interactions Identify Potential Adipocyte Metabolism-Associated Gene STON1 and Immune-Correlated Gene FSHR at the rs13405728 Locus in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Can-hui Cao et al.

Summary: In this study, STON1 and FSHR were identified as potential targets of the rs13405728 locus, with a high expression in PCOS patients and association with adipocyte metabolism and CD4 immune expression. The findings provide insight into the pathogenesis of PCOS through 3D genomic interactions.
