Anti-Fibrosis Effects of Magnesium Lithospermate B in Experimental Pulmonary Fibrosis: By Inhibiting TGF-βRI/Smad Signaling

Xin Luo et al.

Summary: MLB has been shown to attenuate bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in mice by reducing alveolar structure disruption and collagen deposition, as well as inhibiting TGF-beta-stimulated myofibroblastic transdifferentiation of lung fibroblast cells and collagen production in alveolar epithelial cells. The mechanism of action involves decreasing TGF-beta receptor I expression and regulating the TGF-beta/Smad pathway. These results suggest that MLB has great potential for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis.
