Control of Leiodes cinnamomeus (Coleoptera: Leiodidae) in Cultivated Black Truffle Orchards by Kairomone-Based Mass Trapping

Vicente Navarro-Llopis et al.

Summary: The study explores the potential of mass trapping technique against pests in black truffle cultivation, showing that a trap density of 80 traps/ha can significantly reduce pest populations, decrease damages, and improve effectiveness. The cost-effectiveness of these treatments and possible improvements were also discussed.

Efficacy assessment of entomopathogenic nematodes native to Morocco against the white grubs Rhizotrogus obesus Lucas and Geotrogus olcesii Fairmaire (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae)

Youssef Benseddik et al.

Summary: This study found that certain strains of entomopathogenic nematodes have good efficacy against the white grubs and the Geotrogus olcesii in Morocco. In laboratory conditions, specific strains of Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and Steinernema feltiae showed remarkable effectiveness against the white grubs, while mortality rates of Geotrogus olcesii were significant with other strains. In greenhouse experiments, the efficacy of EPN against both white grubs and Geotrogus olcesii was comparable or better than the commonly used insecticide chlorpyrifos-ethyl.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy of naturally occurring and commercial entomopathogenic nematode species against sugar beet wireworm, showing that certain nematodes had higher mortality rates for the larvae.
