Marimbondos: systematics, biogeography, and evolution of social behaviour of neotropical swarm-founding wasps (Hymenoptera: Vespidae: Epiponini)

Fernando B. Noll et al.

Summary: This study examines the phylogenetic relationships of Neotropical swarm-founding wasps, proposing new perspectives and exploring the evolution of traditional clades. The findings suggest that Angiopolybia may possess ancestral features compared to other tribes within Epiponini, and molecular dating indicates an early diversification of the tribe.
