The active mouse rests within: Energy management among and within individuals

Aly Abdeen et al.

Summary: This study explored the relationship between daily energy expenditure (DEE) and resting metabolic rate (RMR) in female white-footed mice. The findings indicated that the relationship between DEE and RMR differed at the among- and within-individual levels, supporting the performance and allocation models, respectively. The study also revealed a contrasting relationship between voluntary wheel running and RMR at the among- and within-individual levels.
