Poisoning during the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown: retrospective analysis of exposures reported to French poison control centres

Gael Le Roux et al.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the impact of COVID-19 on French Poison Control Centre call characteristics by comparing reported cases of xenobiotic exposures from 2018-2020. Results showed an overall increase in exposures during the pandemic, particularly to home cleaning products containing biocides, essential oils, and alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Despite the increase in exposures, the incidence of symptomatic exposures remained stable with a decrease in severity.
