Non-asymptotic and robust estimation for a class of nonlinear fractional-order systems

Chang Liu et al.

Summary: This paper aims to address the problem of non-asymptotic and robust estimation for nonlinear fractional-order systems. By introducing a new class of fractional order modulating functions, the proposed method breaks through the limitations of existing methods and enables estimation for a wider range of system types. Simulation examples illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed estimator in the state estimation of noninteger-order systems, as well as its advantages over the high-gain observer in the state estimation of integer-order systems.

Generalized homogenization of linear observers: Theory and experiment

Siyuan Wang et al.

Summary: A procedure for upgrading a linear observer to a homogeneous (nonlinear) observer was proposed and validated through experiments. The design of the nonlinear observer is based on the concept of linear geometric homogeneity. The simple procedure developed for applying the homogeneous nonlinear observer relies on parameters provided by the linear observer, with the introduction of a saturation function to guarantee the improvement of estimation quality. The theoretical results were ultimately confirmed using the QDrone platform from QuanserTM.
