Summary: The Microchannel X-ray Telescope (MXT) is the first focusing X-ray telescope based on a narrow field Lobster-Eye optical design to be flown on a satellite, the Sino-French mission SVOM. SVOM is dedicated to studying Gamma-Ray Bursts and time-domain astrophysics. The compact and lightweight MXT telescope, sensitive in the 0.2-10 keV energy range, consists of an optical system and a low-noise pnCDD X-ray detector.

Calibration of a fully populated lobster eye optic for SVOM

Summary: The SVOM is a joint Chinese-French satellite mission with the goal of detecting X-ray and gamma-ray transients. The mission consists of four instruments, with the MXT being the main instrument for localizing and spectrally characterizing X-ray afterglows of Gamma-Ray Bursts. Results from calibration tests show that the optic is performing as expected, with effective area and PSF in good agreement with the modeling.
