Summary: This study found that patients with a PCL rupture have smaller intercondylar volumes and smaller ACL volumes compared to control patients. Additionally, patients with smaller ACL volumes also have smaller PCL volumes. This study shows significant size and volume differences in the shape of the knee between patients with a PCL rupture and control patients for the first time.

Medial Meniscus Posterior Root Repair Restores Contact Pressure and Contact Area to Its Native State Even After Opening-Wedge High Tibial Osteotomy: A Cadaveric Biomechanical Study

Summary: The effect of medial meniscus posterior root (MMPR) repair during opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) in terms of contact pressure (CP) and contact area (CA) was investigated using human cadaveric knee specimens. Repairing the torn MMPR decreased CP and increased CA, regardless of whether OWHTO was performed. The biomechanical advantage of repairing torn MMPR is maintained, irrespective of the degree of correction during OWHTO.

Steep posterior slope of the medial tibial plateau and anterior cruciate ligament degeneration contribute to medial meniscus posterior root tears in young patients

Summary: This study compared ACL degeneration and sagittal medial tibial slope in young adults with and without MMPRT. The results showed that young patients with MMPRT had significantly steeper medial tibial slopes and higher ACL degeneration rates compared to healthy volunteers. These parameters were similar to those of older patients with MMPRT. BMI, steep medial tibial slope, and ACL degeneration were found to be significantly associated with MMPRT development in younger patients.

Increased Posterior Tibial Slope and Meniscal Slope Could Be Risk Factors for Meniscal Injuries: A Systematic Review

Summary: This systematic review aimed to examine the relationship between posterior tibial slope (PTS) and meniscal slope (MS) and the incidence of meniscal injury. The review included 16 studies with a total of 2,670 patients. The findings suggest that an increased lateral PTS is associated with a higher risk of lateral meniscal tears and lateral meniscal posterior root tears, while an increased medial MS is related to a higher risk of ramp lesions.
