Rotator cuff repair using a bioresorbable nanofiber interposition scaffold: a biomechanical and histologic analysis in sheep

Anthony Romeo et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the mechanical, structural, and histologic quality of rotator cuff repairs using an interposition nanofiber scaffold composed of polyglycolic acid-poly-L-lactide-co-epsilon-caprolactone in an acute sheep model. The results demonstrated that using the scaffold enhanced the repair strength and facilitated the formation of a tissue structure similar to the natural shoulder cuff attachment.

Increased stiffness and reoperation rate in partial rotator cuff repairs treated with a bovine patch: a propensity-matched trial

Shawn Yeazell et al.

Summary: This study compared the reoperation rates of arthroscopic debridement and repair with and without a bioinductive collagen patch in patients with high-grade partial-thickness rotator cuff tears. The results showed that patients in the patch group had a significantly higher rate of postoperative stiffness, and the majority of patients with shoulder stiffness required reoperation.

Tendon midsubstance trauma as a means for the development of translatable chronic rotator cuff degeneration in an ovine model

James Johnson et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a large-animal model of chronic rotator cuff degeneration without enthesis release, showing that the model tendons exhibited decreased mechanical properties, degenerative pathology characteristics, and changes in gene expression profiles, making it a translational platform for testing repair devices, therapies, and technologies for shoulder damage.

The clinical efficacy of leukocyte-poor plateletrich plasma in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Di Zhao et al.

Summary: The meta-analysis found that leukocyte-poor PRP can reduce the retear rate in medium and long-term follow-up after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, regardless of tear size and repair method. However, it did not show significant effects on postoperative pain and patient-reported outcomes.
