Aeromonas veronii detection in Egyptian fish farms with summer tilapia mortality outbreaks and the role of formic acid in limiting its spread

Rasha M. Reda et al.

Summary: The study identified Aeromonas veronii as the main pathogen in tilapia summer mortality outbreaks. Results showed that including 1% formic acid in the diet can reduce mortality and alleviate the pathogenic effects of the bacterium on the overall health status of tilapia fish.

Role of dietary Spirulina platensis and betaine supplementation on growth, hematological, serum biochemical parameters, antioxidant status, immune responses, and disease resistance in Nile tilapia

Laila Z. Awad et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of Spirulina and Betaine on the growth performance, hepato-renal biomarkers, immune response, and protective effect against Aeromonas infection in Nile tilapia. The results showed that the dietary inclusion of Spirulina and Betaine improved weight gain, final weight, and food conversion ratio, while also regulating levels of biomarkers and cytokines in the fish. Food supplemented with Spirulina and Betaine demonstrated significant protective power against Aeromonas infection in the Nile tilapia.

Prevalence, antibiotic susceptibility, and presence of drug resistance genes in Aeromonas spp. isolated from freshwater fish in Kelantan and Terengganu states, Malaysia

Nik Nur Fazlina Nik Mohd Fauzi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the presence and antibiotic resistance of Aeromonas spp. in various fish samples from two regions in Malaysia. The results showed high antibiotic resistance levels and a wide range of multiple antibiotic resistances, highlighting the need for continuous monitoring of these bacteria for disease management.

Coinfections of Aeromonas spp., Enterococcus faecalis, and Vibrio alginolyticus isolated from farmed Nile tilapia and African catfish in Egypt, with an emphasis on poor water quality

Mohamed Abdelsalam et al.

Summary: The study investigated the high mortality rate among Nile tilapia and African catfish poly-cultured in earthen ponds in Manzala, Egypt, which was linked to poor water quality parameters and bacterial infections. Experimental infection showed different bacterial isolates resulted in varying mortality rates for Nile tilapia.

Yersinia ruckeri and Pseudomonas fluorescens co-infection in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss Walbaum, 1792)

Ezgi Dincturk et al.

Summary: The study revealed a co-infection of Yersinia ruckeri and Pseudomonas fluorescens in rainbow trout farms in Mugla, Turkey, causing significant mortalities and pathological signs. The pathogens were identified through biochemical and molecular tests, showing resistance to various antibiotics. Infection experiments indicated high mortality rates and pathogenicity of both Y. ruckeri and P. fluorescens.
