Comparative analysis of intestinal microbiota composition and transcriptome in diploid and Carassius auratus

Yidan Cai et al.

Summary: This study explores the relationship between intestinal microbiota composition, transcriptome changes, and disease resistance in triploid Carassius auratus (3nCC). The results show that triploidization alters intestinal richness and the diversity of commensal bacteria. It also leads to an increase in the abundance of the genus Vibrio in triploid fish. Furthermore, differential expression analysis reveals changes in immune response-related transcripts in triploid fish. This study provides insights into the molecular mechanism underlying disease resistance after triploidization.

Ecological Specialization Within a Carnivorous Fish Family Is Supported by a Herbivorous Microbiome Shaped by a Combination of Gut Traits and Specific Diet

Summary: Animals have key associations with micro-organisms through evolutionary processes and ecological diversification. The gut microbiome of different fish species varies, but there is no phylosymbiosis signal in the Sparidae family. Diet and gut length have a strong influence on the fish gut microbiome.

Formation of autotriploid Carassius auratus and its fertility-related genes analysis

Chongqing Wang et al.

Summary: This study explored the fertility-related candidate genes in autotriploid Carassius auratus and identified 6 hub genes (MYC, SOX2, BMP4, GATA4, PTEN, and BMP2) related to female fertility, as well as 2 hub genes (TP53 and FGF2) associated with male sterility. The findings provide valuable insights into reproduction and breeding in triploid fish, establishing autotriploid fish as an ideal model for studying reproductive traits.

Seasonally related metabolic changes and energy allocation associated with growth and reproductive phases in the liver of male goldfish (Carassius auratus)

Claudia Ladisa et al.

Summary: This study investigated metabolic profile and energy allocation patterns at different stages of reproduction in goldfish, revealing seasonal changes in basal metabolism and differential energy allocation in growth and reproductive cycles. The findings also suggest a possible regulatory role of GnRH and GnIH in liver metabolism and energy allocation patterns associated with growth and reproduction, providing insights into hormonally induced changes in metabolism in fish undergoing seasonal cycles.

Summary: The inclusion of 500 and 1,000 mg/kg SB in diets significantly improved the growth performance, digestive enzymes, and nutrient retention in juvenile yellow catfish, indicating that SB can be a desirable alternative to antibiotics as a growth promoter in diets.
