Wetting and evaporation of multicomponent droplets

Zhenying Wang et al.

Summary: Wetting and evaporation of sessile droplets are widespread phenomena with significant implications in various industrial and everyday processes. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the physical and physicochemical mechanisms underlying the wetting and spreading of multicomponent droplets, particularly focusing on volatile multicomponent droplets. The paper also summarizes the experimental and numerical methodologies used to study these complex droplets, including their application conditions, accuracy, resolution, and limitations. Furthermore, the authors discuss the importance of exploring the interacting mechanisms with complex droplets and highlight the potential innovations in cutting-edge applications such as 3D printing, self-cleaning, digital microfluidics, cellular sorting, and biomedical diagnosis.

Selective evaporation rate modeling of volatile binary mixture droplets

Chan Ho Jeong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the selective evaporation characteristics of binary mixture droplets and develops a corresponding evaporation rate model. By analyzing the Rayleigh number, a new evaporation rate model is proposed that includes diffusive and convective evaporation effects. This model shows a strong correlation with the observed selective evaporation behavior over the droplet lifetime.

Quantitative analysis of contact line behaviors of evaporating binary mixture droplets using surface plasmon resonance imaging

Chan Ho Jeong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of initial ethanol concentrations on the contact line dynamics of an ethanol-water binary mixture droplet using surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi). The results show that contact line motion during evaporation can be divided into three stages, and a weighted ethanol flux is introduced to consider the effect on the complex sliding motion. The weighted ethanol flux is quantitatively correlated with the receding velocity of the contact line in stage II.

Inkjet Printing Transparent and Conductive MXene (Ti3C2Tx) Films: A Strategy for Flexible Energy Storage Devices

Dong Wen et al.

Summary: In this study, a low-cost, large-scale, and rapid preparation method for flexible and transparent MXene films via inkjet printing was reported. The MXene films showed high sheet resistance and desirable transmittance, along with superior electrochemical performance in transparent supercapacitors. The convenient manufacturing process and excellent electrochemical properties of inkjet-printed flexible and transparent MXene films broaden the application horizon for flexible energy storage devices.
