Compression-assisted absorption refrigeration using ocean thermal energy

Zheng Hu et al.

Summary: This study proposes two types of compression-assisted ammonia-water absorption refrigeration cycles using ocean thermal energy to meet the refrigeration requirement of seafood freezing and preservation storage. The effects of intermediate pressure and the heat source and sink temperatures on the system performance are analyzed and discussed, and the optimal solution and parameter settings are determined.

Hybrid sorption-vapor compression cooling systems: A comprehensive overview

Mohamed G. Gado et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the integration of absorption, adsorption and desiccant cooling technologies into vapor compression systems, studying different configurations based on energetic, exergetic, economic and environmental analysis. The hybrid systems show potential for reducing electricity consumption and enhancing performance by lowering condensation temperatures. Results indicate that oversized adsorption cooling systems can improve performance, while downscaled ones may worsen it. The integration of vapor compression with solid and liquid desiccant cycles can operate efficiently at lower regeneration temperatures, with integrated liquid desiccant-vapor compression systems providing cooling below dew point with energy provision.
