Study on the role of Fe species and acid sites in NH3-SCR over the Fe-based zeolites

Dan Yu et al.

Summary: Fe-doped ZSM-5 zeolite catalysts were studied for their activity and characteristics changes in the NH3 selective catalytic reduction of NOx. The results showed that the SCR activity was mainly dependent on active Fe species rather than acidity. Fe-oxo related Lewis sites played an important role in the low-temperature SCR reaction, while high Bronsted acidity was not necessary for high SCR activity. The study also revealed the conversion of inactive free Fe2+ ions to isolated Fe3+ species during high-temperature calcination and thermal aging, which was inhibited by water.

The Role of Medium Acid Sites Tuned by Ce Adding in Moderate-Temperature NH3-SCR

Xuan Bie et al.

Summary: The addition of cerium enhances the effect of MnAlOx on acidic sites, which improves the conversion of NOx and the selectivity of N-2. However, an opposite effect is observed with excessive addition. Rational design of composite materials through component engineering can optimize the performance of moderate-temperature NH3-SCR catalysts.

Mechanistic insight into the promoting effect of partial substitution of Mn by Ce on N2 selectivity of MnTiOx catalyst for NH3-SCR of NO

Yu Gaoa et al.

Summary: This study synthesized MnTiOx catalyst by partially replacing Mn with Ce, and found that the substitution of Mn with Ce could significantly improve the N-2 selectivity and widen the operating temperature window of the catalyst. The substitution also influenced the redox property and surface acidity of the catalyst, promoting N-2 formation and effectively restraining N2O formation in NH3-SCR reaction.

Gang Li et al.

Summary: A series of TiO2-Al2O3 composites were synthesized and used as supports for MnCeOx catalysts, with MnCeOx/TiO2-Al2O3 showing higher activity and better tolerance. This is attributed to higher concentrations of Mn4+ and chemisorbed oxygen species, stronger reducibility, and larger adsorption capacity.

Superior Oxidative Dehydrogenation Performance toward NH3 Determines the Excellent Low-Temperature NH3-SCR Activity of Mn-Based Catalysts

Guangzhi He et al.

Summary: This study investigates the atomic-level mechanism and activity-limiting factor in NH3-SCR process over Mn-based oxide catalysts. It reveals that the superior oxidative dehydrogenation performance of Mn-based catalysts towards NH3 reduces energy barriers for NH3 activation, facilitating the formation of key intermediate NH2NO. These findings advance the understanding of Mn-based SCR catalysts and provide a fundamental basis for future generation SCR catalysts with excellent low-temperature activity.

CeMn/TiO2 catalysts prepared by different methods for enhanced low-temperature NH3-SCR catalytic performance

Xianlong Zhang et al.

Summary: Ce(1.0)Mn/TiO2 catalysts with the same Ce/Mn molar ratio were prepared by impregnation method and in situ deposition method. The catalyst prepared by in-situ deposition showed better catalytic performance and sulfur resistance compared to that prepared by impregnation. Various characterization methods were used to explore the differences between the two methods, with the catalyst prepared by in-situ deposition method exhibiting higher surface area, better thermal stability, higher concentration of acidic sites, and less agglomeration than the catalyst prepared by impregnation. The in-situ deposition method also enhanced electron mobility effect, thereby improving low-temperature DeNO(x) efficiency.
