TiO2/In2S3 S-scheme photocatalyst with enhanced H2O2-production activity

Yi Yang et al.

Summary: An S-scheme heterojunction is constructed in a hybrid TiO2/In2S3 photocatalyst, which greatly promotes the separation of photogenerated carriers and enhances the production of H2O2. Computational methods and experiments are used to study the charge transfer and separation mechanisms within the S-scheme heterojunction.

Effective water/wastewater treatment methodologies for toxic pollutants removal: Processes and applications towards sustainable development

A. Saravanan et al.

Summary: Effluent from anthropogenic activities has led to a notable impact on the environment, particularly on water quality. Various pollutants in water can be removed using physical, chemical, and biological methods, with membrane separation and adsorption techniques being more effective. Recent research has focused on the development of wastewater treatment technologies, with a recognition of the challenges in enhancing treatment methodologies for commercial application.

Work Function of TiO2 (Anatase, Rutile, and Brookite) Single Crystals: Effects of the Environment

Vera Mansfeldova et al.

Summary: Research shows that the position of the Fermi level and the conduction band minimum on various TiO2 single-crystal surfaces significantly depend on the sample environment. The conduction band minimum changes in the series: anatase < rutile < brookite. Photoelectron spectra in water vapor reveal a noticeable upshift of the conduction band.

CoS@TiO2 S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst for hydrogen production from photoinduced water splitting

Hyerim Park et al.

Summary: A core-shell xCoS@yTiO2 heterojunction catalyst is synthesized by weaving cobalt sulfide microsheet particles into a polyhedral cage and enclosing it with titanium dioxide nanoparticles, resulting in higher photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution. The favorable bandgap location for water splitting, higher photocurrent density, lower photoluminescence, and strong redox sites of the catalyst delay the recombination of photo-induced electron/hole pairs, leading to stable high catalytic efficiency even after repeated recycling.

Preparation of N-TiO2/RGO nanocomposites through sol-gel method

Yudi Ma et al.

Summary: Nitrogen-doped TiO2 and reduced graphene oxide (RGO) nanocomposites were prepared via a sol-gel method and showed improved photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methyl orange. Nitrogen doping caused a red shift in the light excitation range and enhanced electron-hole separation, leading to increased photodegradation efficiency under visible light irradiation. Annealing treatment further improved the photocatalytic performance of the nanocomposites.

Fluorine and phosphorus co-doped TiO2(001) nanosheets as a high-stability visible light-driven photocatalyst

Shuo Chen et al.

Summary: By dual-ions (F and P) co-doping, the efficiency and stability of TiO2 in visible light absorption and photo-generated charge separation were significantly improved. FP3-TiO2 (001) exhibited excellent recycling and environmental stability, possibly due to the formation of Ti-IV-OOH and the continuous shift between it and its exited state.

Optical property trends in a family of {Mo6I8} aquahydroxo complexes

Margarita V. Marchuk et al.

Summary: This study investigates the optical properties of octahedral molybdenum cluster complexes, identifying the influence of crystal packing and ligand environment on their absorption and emission properties. The research also determines the four-component nature of cluster emission through Gaussian deconvolution of photoluminescence spectra. It is found that the impact of ligand type and crystal density decreases as the spectra move to the lower-energy red part, with protonation of hydroxo ligands significantly reducing absorption in the visible spectral region.
