Ultrasensitive acetone gas sensor can distinguish the diabetic state of people and its high performance analysis by first-principles calculation

Lingbo Cai et al.

Summary: An ultrasensitive acetone gas sensor based on p-Rh2O3-n-ZnO porous heterostructure has been fabricated with a detection limit of 50 ppb. The sensor exhibits good repeatability, selectivity, and linear response, and can distinguish between the acetone concentrations of diabetic patients and healthy individuals. Theoretical models based on first-principles calculations have been used to explain the ultrasensitivity of the sensor.

Highly sensitive NO2 gas sensor based on Ag decorated ZnO nanorods

Shubham Saini et al.

Summary: In this study, ZnO nanorods and Ag nanoparticles decorated ZnO nanorods were synthesized using a simple chemical hydrothermal route. Various characterization techniques were used to study the properties of the samples. The gas sensing measurements showed that the Ag/ZnO nanorods exhibited the highest sensing response to 10 ppm NO2 at a working temperature of 180 degrees C. These observations are significant for the detection of NO2 in the environment.

Highly sensitive and stable H2 gas sensor based on p-PdO-n-WO3-heterostructure-homogeneously-dispersing thin film

Shu Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, a dense WO3 thin film was prepared using a simple metal organic decomposition method and calcining procedure, and a H2 gas sensor was fabricated on its surface. The sensor exhibited high sensitivity and low detection limit at an optimal operating temperature of 160 degrees C. It showed good stability and linear behavior with response values that remained consistent even after more than half a year. The homogeneous and optimal distribution of PdO nanoparticles in the WO3 film is believed to be the main reason for the sensor's improved performance. The results suggest that this structure-based H2 sensor has great potential for practical applications.

Electrospun NiO nanofibers with Rh decoration for enhanced acetone sensing performances

Ying Gao et al.

Summary: A series of porous Rh-NiO heterojunction nanofibers with different molar ratios were fabricated by a facile electrospinning technique to improve the sensing properties of p-type NiO. The sensor with an optimal Rh amount of 5 mol% showed the highest p-type response to acetone and excellent selectivity. The improved sensing response was attributed to the formation of ohmic contacts between Rh and NiO nanoparticles, chemical sensitization effect of Rh nanoparticles, and increased BET surface area.
