Titania crystal-plane-determined activity of copper cluster in water-gas shift reaction

Jiang-Wei An et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of the crystal plane of TiO2 support on the water-gas shift reaction (WGSR) using density functional theory (DFT) and microkinetic modeling. The results indicate that the TiO2(0 0 1) supported copper cluster exhibits the best catalytic performance for WGSR compared with other crystal planes. The crystal plane effect is attributed to the difference in surface energy and surface geometry.

Water-Gas Shift Reaction over Au(111): The Effect of Potassium from a First-Principles-Based Microkinetic Model Analysis

Yan-Xin Wang et al.

Summary: The effect of potassium promoter on the water-gas shift reaction over Au(111) and K/Au(111) was studied. It was found that the addition of potassium can enhance the adsorption strength of oxygen-containing species, leading to higher catalytic activity. Among different metal catalysts, sodium is the best promoter. The microkinetic model analysis indicated that the carboxyl mechanism is the dominant mechanism of the whole reaction processes.

Computational Methods in Heterogeneous Catalysis

Benjamin W. J. Chen et al.

Summary: Computational heterogeneous catalysis shows great promise for designing and discovering novel catalysts, with recent advances in electronic structure methods, atomistic catalyst models, and microkinetic modeling bridging the gap between nanoscale insights and macroscale experimental data. Remaining challenges include improving model accuracy and addressing discrepancies between experimental and computational results.

High-purity hydrogen production via a water-gas-shift reaction in a palladium-copper catalytic membrane reactor integrated with pressure swing adsorption

Gina Bang et al.

Summary: The Pd-Cu catalytic membrane reactor (CMR) combined with a four-bed PSA system was developed to efficiently produce fuel cell grade hydrogen, enhancing CO conversion and H2 recovery. By using sweep gas, pure H2 could be directly obtained from the permeate side, resulting in H2 purity of over 99.9991% and CO concentration as low as 8.67 ppm.
