Magnetically separable mesoporous alginate polymer beads assist adequate removal of aqueous methylene blue over broad solution pH

Masud Hassan et al.

Summary: Adsorption is a promising technology for removing organic and inorganic contaminants. This study synthesized magnetically separable mesoporous polymeric beads for efficient removal of methylene blue under broad solution pH. The adsorbent exhibited high adsorption capacity, suitable for different pH conditions. Kinetic model fittings indicated the efficient removal of MB by NiZnFe4O4-HNT@alg.

Abdallah Reghioua et al.

Summary: A magnetic Schiff's base chitosan-glutaraldehyde/Fe3O4 composite with zinc oxide nanoparticles was developed as an efficient adsorbent for removing RBBR dye, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 176.6 mg/g at 60 degrees C. The adsorption mechanism involves multiple interactions including electrostatic attractions, hydrogen bonding, Yoshida H-bonding, and n-pi interactions.

Selective adsorption and separation of organic dyes using functionalized cellulose nanocrystals

Nishil Mohammed et al.

Summary: The study evaluated cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) as adsorbents for selective adsorption and separation of organic dyes mixtures, finding that CNCs with surface functional groups can selectively adsorb dyes, with PD-CNCs showing high affinity for MB and MF-CNCs binding selectively to MO. The improved selectivity of PD-CNCs towards MB is attributed to synergistic binding interactions, such as electrostatic attraction, pi-pi stacking, and hydrogen bonding.
