Biopolymer-Templated Deposition of Ordered and Polymorph Titanium Dioxide Thin Films for Improved Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Sensitivity

Qing Chen et al.

Summary: This study reports a novel strategy of utilizing cellulose nanofibril (CNF) as a template to fabricate TiO2/CNF thin films with tailored morphology and crystallinity for enhanced SERS sensitivity. By combining atomic layer deposition and thermal annealing, polymorphous TiO2/CNF thin films with defined morphology were achieved, showing a high enhancement factor in semiconductor metal oxide nanomaterial (SMON)-based SERS substrates. The improved SERS sensitivity is attributed to the cooperative modulation of CNF template morphology and TiO2 crystalline state.

Study of the influence of anodizing parameters on the photocatalytic activity of preferred oriented TiO2 nanotubes self-doped by carbon

Y. V. Yuferov et al.

Summary: Nanotubular TiO2 arrays were synthesized through anodization and annealing, resulting in highly crystallized structures with preferred orientations. The study comprehensively examined the photo-electrochemical properties and incident photon-to-electron conversion efficiency of the material, demonstrating the impact of self-doping by carbon on its photocatalytic properties. The research also showed significant improvement in photoconversion efficiency in both UV and visible ranges, indicating potential for enhancing efficiency before further doping and decoration.

Charge transfer between Ti4+, Sn4+ and Pt in the tin doped TiO2 photocatalyst for elevating the hydrogen production efficiency

Han Wang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the use of tin ions as dopants to enhance the catalytic efficiency of TiO2 photocatalyst. The results showed that Sn4+ doping transformed the mixed phase TiO2 into single rutile phase TiO2 and improved the water splitting efficiency. Charge transfer between Ti4+ and Sn4+ was identified as the key reason for suppressing carrier recombination and improving the photocatalytic efficiency.
