Facile morphology control strategy to enhance charge separation efficiency of Mo:BiVO4 photoanodes for efficient photoelectrochemical water splitting

Sang Gi Shim et al.

Summary: A nanostructuring strategy was proposed to enhance the PEC performance of Mo:BiVO4 photoanodes by varying the molecular weight of PEG. The control of grain and pore sizes of Mo:BiVO4 was shown to improve charge separation efficiency and achieve a high photocurrent density. This study provides new insights on a simple approach to enhance the PEC performance of nanostructured Mo:BiVO4 photoanodes.

Intrinsic Mechanism Analyses of Significantly Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Performance of the Bi2MoO6/BiVO4 System

Jing Tian et al.

Summary: The Bi2MoO6/BiVO4 photoelectrode was prepared using electrodeposition and hydro-thermal methods, and the intrinsic mechanism of the significantly enhanced photoelectrochemical performance of the prepared Bi2MoO6/BiVO4 heterojunction system was studied. It was confirmed that the formation of the type II Bi2MoO6/BiVO4 heterojunction system reduces the recombination efficiency of photogenerated electrons and holes, leading to the improved photoelectrochemical performance. The successful application of a scanning Kelvin probe in verifying the heterojunction type provides important theoretical and technical bases for the design and construction of efficient heterojunctions.

Oxygen vacancies activating surface reactivity to favor charge separation and transfer in nanoporous BiVO4 photoanodes

Sen Jin et al.

Summary: This study introduces a feasible strategy of activating surface reactivity on semiconductors to enhance PEC performance by cooperatively working with semiconductor photoactivity. By using ionized argon plasma technology on 3D nanoporous BiVO4, surface oxygen vacancies are controllably generated to improve charge separation and transfer efficiency, resulting in a significant increase in photo current density.

Bimetallic MOFs derived FeM(II)-alloy@C composites with high-performance electromagnetic wave absorption

Lei Li et al.

Summary: This study successfully designed controllable bimetallic Fe/M (M = Co, Ni, Mn) doped carbon microwave absorption materials based on MOFs precursor, achieving impedance matching between free space and the absorber. The optimized FeCo2@C exhibits strong EMW absorption performance and broad bandwidth with a low filler loading, showcasing the intensified role of rational doping the second metal source into the Fe-MOFs precursor to tune the microwave absorption performance.
