Plasma-assisted dry reforming of methane over Mo2C-Ni/Al2O3 catalysts: Effects of β-Mo2C promoter

Yanan Diao et al.

Summary: The addition of beta-Mo2C facilitated charge deposition, leading to the re-dispersion of Ni nanoparticles over the beta-Mo2C surface due to the strong interaction between Ni and beta-Mo2C. The mechanically mixed Mo2C-Ni/Al2O3 catalyst with the new active interface of Ni-Mo2C exhibited much better activity and stability compared to the undoped Ni/Al2O3 catalyst, providing practical solutions to depress carbon deposition and enhance catalytic stability in plasma-assisted DRM reaction.

Highly dispersed Ni/MgO-mSiO2 catalysts with excellent activity and stability for dry reforming of methane

Fang Zeng et al.

Summary: A highly dispersed Ni catalyst supported by mesoporous SiO2 nanospheres and promoted by alkaline MgO was synthesized and used as an active and stable catalyst for dry reforming of methane (DRM). The Ni/MgO-mSiO(2) catalyst showed superior performance compared to similar catalysts in literatures, with stable CH4 and CO2 conversions around 82% and 85% during 120 hours of DRM reaction. The promotion effect of MgO on the Ni catalyst was systematically studied and found to enhance the dispersion of active centers, inhibit sintering and deactivation of Ni, and facilitate the cracking of CH4, activation of CO2, and elimination of carbon deposits.

Electronic modulation of InNi3C0.5/Fe3O4 by support precursor toward efficient CO2 hydrogenation to methanol

Chao Meng et al.

Summary: Carbon neutrality has brought worldwide attention to the exploration of CO2 hydrogenation to methanol, with the need for groundbreaking catalysts. A highly efficient InNi3C0.5/Fe3O4 catalyst was developed by finely tuning the electronic metal-support interaction (EMSI) using Fe3O4 precursor. The catalyst achieved a significantly higher turnover frequency compared to other Fe3O4 precursors, indicating the correlation between oxygen deficiency and EMSI-governed activity. Enhanced EMSI made the catalyst more electron-enriched, allowing easy dissociation of CO2. The InNi3C0.5/Fe3O4-N catalyst showed excellent performance in terms of methanol space time yield, selectivity, and resistance to sintering and sulfur poisoning.
