Integrated cabin heating and powertrain thermal energy management for a connected hybrid electric vehicle

Summary: Connected and automated vehicles present significant opportunities for energy saving and efficiency, especially for hybrid electric vehicles. An innovative co-optimization platform has been developed to optimize cabin heating, powertrain operation, and exhaust aftertreatment system thermal management, leading to 10% to 26% vehicle energy saving. Extensive experimental data and Monte Carlo simulations were used to test and study the effectiveness of the integrated cabin and powertrain thermal management.
