Tuning the Intermolecular Electron Transfer of Low-Dimensional and Metal-Free BCN/C60 Electrocatalysts via Interfacial Defects for Efficient Hydrogen and Oxygen Electrochemistry

Md Ariful Ahsan et al.

Summary: The development of OD-2D heterostructures composed of BCN NSs and C-60/F has led to the synthesis of supramolecular materials with multifunctional electrocatalytic properties for various reactions. By optimizing the intermolecular electron transfer, a nanohybrid material with 10% F in BCN NSs showed enhanced catalytic activity surpassing commercial RuO2 catalysts. The 10% F/BCN catalyst exhibited the highest tetrafunctional catalytic performance, achieving a cell potential of 1.61 V for water splitting at a current density of 10 mA cm(-)(2).

Non-Bonding Interaction of Neighboring Fe and Ni Single-Atom Pairs on MOF-Derived N-Doped Carbon for Enhanced CO2 Electroreduction

Long Jiao et al.

Summary: Through the direct pyrolysis of MOFs assembled with Fe and Ni-doped ZnO nanoparticles, a novel Fe-1-Ni-1-N-C catalyst with neighboring Fe and Ni single-atom pairs on nitrogen-doped carbon support has been precisely constructed. The synergism of neighboring Fe and Ni single-atom pairs significantly boosts the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2, surpassing catalysts with separate Fe or Ni single atoms. The study reveals the importance of the communicative effect between adjacent single atoms for improved catalysis in single-atom catalysts containing multiple metal species.

Hydrogen Peroxide Generation with 100% Faradaic Efficiency on Metal-Free Carbon Black

Zhe Wang et al.

Summary: A metal-free catalyst synthesized from commercial carbon black using plasma treatment was found to exhibit high efficiency in electrochemical generation of hydrogen peroxide. The catalyst showed a high onset potential and the highest mass activity among state-of-the-art catalysts, even after removal of oxygen-containing groups, due to its defective structure after plasma treatment.
