SrTiO3/Bi4Ti3O12 Nanoheterostructural Platelets Synthesized by Topotactic Epitaxy as Effective Noble-Metal-Free Photocatalysts for pH-Neutral Hydrogen Evolution

Marjeta Macek Krzmanc et al.

Summary: The hydrothermal epitaxial growth of SrTiO3 on Bi4Ti3O12 platelets enables the formation of novel nanoheterostructural SrTiO3/Bi4Ti3O12 platelets. During the topochemical conversion reaction, the Bi4Ti3O12 platelets are gradually replaced by SrTiO3, resulting in a stable and efficient photocatalyst without noble-metal doping or cocatalysts.

The Power of Ionic Liquids: Crystal Facet Engineering of SrTiO3 Nanoparticles for Tailored Photocatalytic Applications

Tarek Alammar et al.

Summary: The sonochemical synthesis of nano-sized SrTiO3 in ionic liquids at close to room temperature allows for tuning of particle size, morphology, and aggregation. Different ionic liquids influence the formation, structure, and photocatalytic performance of the nanoparticles, with varying activities observed for hydrogen evolution and organic material degradation. The crystal surfaces of the nano-sized SrTiO3 materials prepared in different ionic liquids play a key role in determining the photocatalytic activity, as supported by first-principles density functional theory calculations.

Two step synthesis of TiO2-Co3O4 composite for efficient oxygen evolution reaction

Umair Aftab et al.

Summary: Efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is achieved by producing TiO2/Co3O4 composite materials, with a linear reduction in overpotential as the TiO2 content increases. The composite materials exhibit wire-like morphology formed by self-assembly of nanoparticles, with homogeneous distribution of titania nanoparticles on larger cobalt oxide nanoparticles. The highest TiO2 content composite (CT-20) shows the lowest overpotential and high durability, making it a promising material for various energy storage and conversion systems.
