Early ABI Testing May Decrease Risk of Amputation for Patients With Lower Extremity Ulcers

Angela Aguirre et al.

Summary: This study investigates the correlation between early assessment of arterial perfusion and the risk of amputation in patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia. The results demonstrate that early ABI testing expedites specialty referral and wound healing.

Reinterventions in Patients with Claudication and Chronic Limb Threatening Ischemia

Alaa Mohamedali et al.

Summary: Patients with CLTI require more frequent reinterventions after lower extremity revascularization compared to patients with claudication. In long-term follow up, CLTI patients have significantly higher rates of major amputation and mortality. These findings highlight the need for more proactive intervention and follow up for CLTI patients.

Long-term Clinical Outcomes and Prognostic Factors After Endovascular Treatment in Patients With Chronic Limb Threatening Ischemia

Jung-Joon Cha et al.

Summary: This study investigated the long-term outcomes of chronic limb threatening ischemia (CLTI) patients who underwent endovascular therapy (EVT). The results showed that age, end-stage renal disease (ESRD), Rutherford category 6, and suboptimal EVT were predictors of major amputation or death, while smoking provided protection. Low body mass index, ESRD, femoropopliteal lesion, Rutherford category 6, and suboptimal EVT were predictors of major adverse limb events (MALE). The highest hazard rates were observed within the first 6 months, followed by a decrease and then a rise after 3-4 years.

The Impact of Chronic Kidney Disease on Mid-Term Outcomes after Revascularisation of Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease: Results from a Prospective Cohort Study

Artur Kotov et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and 12-month outcomes for patients with symptomatic peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) who received in-hospital treatment. The study found that patients with end stage kidney disease (ESKD) had a significantly higher risk of death, amputation or death, and major adverse cardiovascular events after 12 months compared to patients without kidney disease.

The Association of Preoperative Characteristics with Reintervention Risk in Patients Undergoing Revascularization for Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia

Summary: The study identified preoperative characteristics associated with an increased risk of reintervention. No preoperative characteristics had any significant interactions with EVT or surgical reconstruction.

Interplay of Diabetes Mellitus and End-Stage Renal Disease in Open Revascularization for Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia

Heepeel Chang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of diabetes mellitus (DM) on outcomes after infrainguinal bypass in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI). The results showed that DM was associated with a higher rate of major adverse limb events postoperatively, but there were no significant differences in one-year primary patency and amputation-free survival rates.
