Efficacy and safety of cold versus hot snare polypectomy for small (5-9 mm) colorectal polyps: a multicenter randomized controlled trial

Summary: In small polyps resection, there were no significant differences in complete resection and bleeding rates between cold snare polypectomy (CSP) and hot snare polypectomy (HSP). However, CSP reduced the intensity and duration of post-colonoscopy abdominal pain.

Summary: The study findings suggest that CSP with periprocedural antiplatelet agents and warfarin may be a safe option for diminutive polyps. However, caution should be exercised when using DOACs or multiple agents, as they carry higher bleeding risks even with hemoclipping.

Randomized Controlled Trial Investigating Cold Snare and Forceps Polypectomy Among Small POLYPs in Rates of Complete Resection: The TINYPOLYP Trial

Mike T. Wei et al.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of cold snare polypectomy (CSP) and cold forceps polypectomy (CFP) in removing small colon polyps. The results showed that CFP was noninferior to CSP in achieving complete resection of nonpedunculated polyps <= 3 mm, with CFP requiring less time for the procedure. Therefore, CFP can be considered as an acceptable alternative for the removal of small colon polyps.

Summary: Cold snaring is a safe and effective technique for nonpedunculated colorectal lesions sized 6 to 15 mm, with low rates of incomplete resection and shorter procedural time.
