Detection of key gene InDels in TGF-? pathway and its relationship with growth traits in four sheep breeds

Shuhui Wang et al.

Summary: The TGF-β signaling pathway is important in regulating various cellular processes, and genes like LTBP1, THBS1, and SMAD4 play crucial roles in this pathway. In this study, the effects of insertion/deletion variations in these genes on growth traits in sheep were examined, revealing significant associations between these genetic variations and growth traits.

Influence of coat color on genetic parameter estimates in horses

Gleb Strauss Borges Junqueira et al.

Summary: The study found that including coat color effects in the model better estimated the genetic parameters of morphometric traits in horses, leading to more accurate heritability estimates.

MicroRNA-30c delivered by bone marrow-mesenchymal stem cells induced apoptosis and diminished cell invasion in U-251 glioblastoma cell line

Mohamad Mahjoor et al.

Summary: miR-30c targets IL-6 and the self-renewal and anti-apoptotic cluster of genes to induce apoptosis and reduce migration and invasion in glioblastoma cells. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells carrying miR-30c can increase apoptosis rate and decrease migration ability in glioblastoma cells.

A meta-analysis of genetic parameter estimates for conformation traits in horses

Navid Ghavi Hossein-Zadeh

Summary: It is essential to have sound estimates of genetic parameters for economically important traits in animal breeding plans. This study conducted a meta-analysis to combine different published heritability estimates and genetic correlations between conformation traits in horses, revealing substantial variability among these estimates. The results of this study can be applicable in breeding designs when reliable estimates are not available for conformation traits in horse populations.

Estimation of genetic parameters and trends for morphometric traits in Brazilian Mangalarga Marchador horses

Suzana Maruch et al.

Summary: This study estimated genetic parameters and genetic trends for morphometric traits in Mangalarga Marchador horses over 26 years. Heritabilities were moderate to high for all traits, while genetic trends were mostly positive but of low magnitude. It was concluded that genetic gains were limited by low phenotypic variability, and strategies to increase variability in the population were necessary.

Principal components for morphometric traits in Campolina horses

Iara Del Pilar Solar Diaz et al.

Summary: PCA was applied to evaluate genetic variability and relationship between morphometric traits in Campolina horses and propose an index based on an aggregate genotype for selection. PC1 explained a large proportion of genetic variance, with traits related to body size showing higher heritabilities and strong genetic correlations. The HPC1 index combining breeding values from different traits can identify the best animals for selection.
